The plant bearing this flower is a species of cactus - "Epiphyllum oxypetalum".
The flower blooms only once a year and that too only during the night for approx 12 hrs. It reaches its peak at around midnight and then starts its decline.
Here in our locality it is also known as Brahmakamal, which seems to be incorrect as real Brahmakamals (Saussurea obvallata) are found in high mountains (3000 to 4600 m) of Himalaya range.
Anyway this is a rare and awesomely beautiful flower with lovely sweet fragrance and its a treat to get the opportunity today to see it blooming in my small garden.
Since past four years we are celebrating the arrival of these flowers in our house. This year we are blessed with two events - first on 28th July there were two flowers and then today this single flower on another plant :)

The Cuckoo Call
Since past few days, the Koel (Cuckoo) is giving wake up calls to me each morning.
After failing repeatedly, I finally managed to capture it on screen - after all its easier to hear it than spot it.

Exploring Konkan
Tried to capture the breathtaking beauty of Konkan (Coastal region of the State of Maharashtra, India) in this short film. The region is famous for its forts, food, beaches, mango and temples. Also it is rich in literature, music, performing arts, culture, heritage, etc.
Tourists can expect friendly people, affordable decent accommodations, generous hospitality and convenient access through air, railway and road.
